Many people--Catholics included--are often surprised by the scrutiny of the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints when it comes to healings, and how many things that most of us would consider "miraculous" are rejected. (Reasons? E.g., Being ascribable to medical treatment, not sufficiently documented by medical professionals, etc.) A hematologist and historian considers her experience with Marguerite d'Youville. - Fr. James Martin, SJ.
